Solo sets and storytelling collaborations

As a soloist, Rachel brings classical precision and folk flair to every program, moving gracefully from a hushed Celtic air at a wedding ceremony to a set of reels that sets a festival lawn in motion.

Rachel has performed with the San Diego Storytellers for more than a decade, and each year she joins them on the Friday evening that opens the San Diego Highland Games. In their performances, her violin becomes a second narrator, following each tale through its moments of mystery, mischief and delight.

Faires and Festivals

Rachel is a seasoned performer at Renaissance Faires and Faerie Festivals, where her music lends the grounds an air of enchantment, and where her Eastern European repertoire unleashes the wilder, more passionate side of the fiddle.

Most often on stage

The Electrocarpathians

Most often, you’ll find Rachel on stage with The Electrocarpathians. Since 1988, the band has stirred Klezmer, polka and Czardas into the same cauldron as classic rock and Latin music, with each member contributing a distinctive instrument and accent.

Electrocarpathians

Klezmer and polka

Exuberant dance tunes, the violin’s bright, swinging melodies intertwined with the cry of the clarinet and the buoyant pulse of the accordion.

Czardas meets rock

The Hungarian Czardas, which begins slow and builds to a dizzying whirl, gains the full force of a rock band.

Latin Rhythms

Irresistible grooves that turn a folk set into a full-blown celebration.
